Lucha Va Voom
LA Weekly is excited to welcome Lucha Va Voom to this year’s Tacolandia.
Look for matches every hour!
Mexican Masked Wrestling + Burlesque + Comedy = Lucha VaVOOM
Lucha VaVOOM is a non-stop, action-packed scream-a-thon, where Mexican Masked wrestlers flip and fly, performing breathtaking acrobatic feats while battling evil luchadores. Historically speaking, Lucha VaVOOM brings the bizarre world of 60’s Mexican Lucha Cinema to life. Brave, masked wrestling crime fighters save the world from evil brains, vampires, the Bermuda Triangle etc; always with an obligatory stop at the local go-go club.
In-between matches, the finest, handpicked burlesque acts from around the world astound; at Lucha VaVOOM, we like a little sexo with our violencia. Raucous aerial acts, Pogo-stick peelers, hula-hoop hotties; we’ve got it all!

Casa De Calacas
With influences from varied ends of the musical spectrum, Casa De Calacas exist somewhere between a house party DJ and that vintage jukebox playing your favorite corridos late night at the taco spot. CDC (as dubbed by fans) cleverly manages to carve out a niche, while paying homage to their culture and the city that birthed them.
In classic “East LA” fashion, Casa De Calacas treat fans to a guided tour of sub-genres and hybrid styles, seamlessly fusing their influences to create their self branded, “Musica del Barrio.” Touting a high energetic live show, audiences quickly find themselves engulfed in a relentless tsunami of sound. The goal to evoke a party-like atmosphere is not taken lightly. One moment you’re skanking up a sweat to saxophone blowing ska lines, the next you’re belting out a grito in unison with perfect strangers. Their mariachi-esque rock goes zero to sixty, sending crowds into a frenzy hip shaking trance. One fan exclaims, “It’s like getting a sonic punch to the face, and it feels great!” From infectious reggae-cumbias to Hip Hop inspired merengue, CDC fires on all cylinders at all times.
Ambitious LA duo Sin Color have been developing their craft since forming in 2014, when Crisia Regalado and David Aquino first started composing and playing together as teenagers in South LA. Their music embodies traditional styles passed on from older Latinx generations, transforming cumbia, mariachi and disco into indie dance pop with catchy melodies and introspective lyrics, achieving a sophisticated sound way beyond their years. Sin Color’s captivating live show and determined approach has earned them a solid buzz and a loyal following in the local LA music scene. Frutas, Sin Color’s first full-length album, will be released this spring and it includes fan-favorite songs they have been performing, at times with a 10 piece orchestra, all over Southern & Baja California for the past three years. With their breakthrough debut album and a polished live set, Sin Color is sure to flourish and find fresh new ground all over California and beyond.
